India’s ban on 19 single-use plastic items, including straws, plates, and polystyrene packaging, took effect in 2022. The CPCB enforces this regulation, but compliance remains uneven.

Alternatives such as banana-leaf packaging, paper straws, and biodegradable cups are being promoted. However, lack of awareness and availability remains a challenge, especially in rural areas.

You can support the movement by:

Using eco-friendly household items

Encouraging local vendors to switch to sustainable packaging

Participating in awareness drives and cleanup events
